Two more awards for Barefoot Power!
Barefoot Power was named Small Company of the Year at the Australian Sustainability Awards. The awards, organized by Ethical Investor took place in Melbourne, Australia, in December. The judges recognized that Barefoot Power “has a simple technology-replacement business model that is on track to bring affordable renewable-energy lighting to five million of the world’s poor, across 20 countries – replacing unsafe and high-emissions kerosene”.

The same week, Barefoot Power also won the 2011 Katerva Energy & Power Award. The Katerva Awards are given annually to excellent sustainability ideas and initiatives in 10 categories, including Energy and Power. They promote and accelerate solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, focusing on ingenuity, feasibility, scalability, and impact.
