d.light and Nuru Energy nominated as Finalists for Prestigious Global Energy Prize

d.light design, a Lighting Africa Associate, has been nominated finalist for this year’s Zayed Future Energy Prize. d.light was selected from as many as 1,103 nominations and 425 submissions from participants in 71 countries from around the world. Nuru Energy, which has one product that passed Lighting Africa minimum quality standards and recommended performance targets, was also nominated as a finalist.

The $4 million dollar Zayed Future Energy Prize recognizes and rewards innovation, leadership, and long-term vision in renewable energy and sustainability.

Managed by Masdar in Abu Dhabi, the prize was developed to “celebrate achievements that reflect impact innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.”  It is an annual award that is given to those who demonstrate a commitment to identify solutions that can meet the challenges of climate change, energy security, and the environment.  The Zayed Future Energy Prize was created to honor the legacy of environmental protection and concern for conservation established by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late ruler of Abu Dhabi and the Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates.
