Lighting Global maintains the Quality Standards, a set of off-grid lighting benchmarks that set a baseline level of quality, durability, and truth-in-advertising to protect consumers. These Standards apply to products with power up to and including 10 W. [Note: products with peak power ratings greater than 10 W and up to 350 W are held to the solar home system (SHS) kit standards. If products between 11-15 W need to be evaluated as pico-PV products to meet an outside requirement, an additional two samples may be evaluated during testing and the product will be required to meet both sets of quality standards.]
Conformance with the Quality Standards is evaluated based on results from laboratory testing according to the Quality Test Method (QTM) in the latest edition of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Specification 62257-9-5. Products that have met the Quality Standards are issued a Specifications Sheet and Verification Letter and posted on the Lighting Global website: www.lightingglobal.org/products.
Current and previous versions of the Quality Standards may be downloaded below. View this Change Log to see what changed when in each set of quality standards. A recent version is also available in Chinese (中文版), and French (français) for informational purposes. In case of a discrepancy, the English original will prevail.
